Soft, juicy steamed dumplings filled with finely chopped vegetables and mild Asian seasoning — a popular street-style snack and light meal.

Ingredients

  • For Outer Cover
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour

  • Salt to taste

  • Water (as needed for kneading)

  • For Veg Filling
  • 1 cup cabbage (finely chopped)

  • ½ cup carrot (finely chopped)

  • ¼ cup capsicum (finely chopped)

  • 2 spring onions (finely chopped)

  • 1 tsp garlic (minced)

  • 1 tsp ginger (minced)

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp oil

Directions

  • Prepare Dough: Mix flour and salt. Add water gradually and knead into a smooth, firm dough. Cover and rest for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare Filling: Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic and ginger; sauté briefly. Add all vegetables and stir-fry on high heat for 2–3 minutes. Add soy sauce, pepper, and salt. Mix well. Cool completely.
  • Shape Momos: Divide dough into small balls. Roll into thin circles. Place filling in the center and pleat the edges to seal.
  • Steam: Grease a steamer plate lightly. Arrange momos with space between them. Steam for 12–15 minutes until outer cover looks glossy.
  • Serve Hot: Serve with spicy red chili chutney or garlic sauce.
