kcalA quick and comforting South Indian breakfast made from roasted rava/suji (semolina), tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and veggies. Perfect for busy mornings!
Ingredients
1 cup semolina (rava/suji)
2 tbsp oil or ghee
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
1 small onion (chopped)
1 green chilli (slit)
1 carrot (chopped)
A few curry leaves
2½ cups water
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnish
Directions
- Dry roast rava/suji (semolina) until aromatic; set aside.
- Heat oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves, onions & chillies — sauté.
- Add chopped veggies and cook briefly.
- Pour in water, bring to a boil, and add salt.
- Gradually add roasted rava/suji (semolina) while stirring continuously.
- Cook until soft and fluffy. Garnish with coriander leaves.
Notes
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or pickle!
