Crispy golden fritters made with soft paneer slices dipped in a spiced gram-flour batter—perfect as an evening snack with chai.

Ingredients

  • For Pakora Batter
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • ½ tsp red chilli powder

  • ½ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

  • ¼ tsp baking soda

  • Salt to taste

  • Water as needed

  • For Pakoras
  • 200 g paneer (cut into slices or cubes)

  • Oil for deep frying

  • Chaat masala (for sprinkling)

Directions

  • Prepare Batter: In a bowl, mix besan, turmeric, chilli powder, ajwain, baking soda, and salt. Add water gradually to make a smooth, thick batter.
  • Heat Oil: Heat oil in a deep pan on medium flame.
  • Coat Paneer: Dip paneer pieces into the batter, coating them evenly.
  • Fry Pakoras: Carefully drop coated paneer into hot oil. Fry until golden and crisp, turning occasionally.
  • Drain & Season: Remove pakoras and drain on paper towel. Sprinkle chaat masala on top.
  • Serve Hot: Serve immediately with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
