A bold and flavorful South Indian–style mushroom curry cooked with freshly crushed pepper and spices—perfect for a comforting Sunday lunch.

Ingredients

  • 250 g mushrooms (cleaned & sliced)

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)

  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 2 tomatoes (finely chopped)

  • 1 tsp crushed black pepper

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • ½ tsp garam masala

  • Salt to taste

  • ½ cup water

  • Curry leaves (optional)

  • Fresh coriander (for garnish)

Directions

  • Sauté Onions: Heat oil in a pan. Add curry leaves and onions. Sauté until golden brown.
  • Add Aromatics: Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until raw smell disappears.
  • Add Tomatoes & Spices: Add tomatoes, turmeric, coriander powder, pepper, and salt. Cook until soft and oil separates.
  • Add Mushrooms: Add mushrooms and mix well.
  • Simmer: Add water, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes until mushrooms are tender.
  • Finish: Add garam masala, mix gently, and switch off flame.
  • Serve: Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
