A protein-rich Indian breakfast pancake made with soaked moong dal and mild spices—light, filling, and perfect for a healthy morning.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow moong dal (soaked 4–5 hours)

  • 1 green chilli (optional)

  • 1-inch ginger

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder

  • Salt to taste

  • Water (as needed for batter)

  • 1 small onion (finely chopped, optional)

  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)

  • Oil for cooking

Directions

  • Prepare Batter: Drain soaked moong dal and grind with green chili, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric, salt, and water into a smooth batter.
  • Add Toppings: Mix chopped onion and coriander into the batter.
  • Heat Tawa: Heat a non-stick tawa and grease lightly with oil.
  • Make Chilla: Pour a ladle of batter and spread gently into a circle.
  • Cook: Drizzle oil around edges and cook on medium flame until golden.
  • Flip & Cook: Flip and cook the other side until fully cooked.
  • Serve Hot: Serve with green chutney, curd, or ketchup.
