Soft and juicy Gulab Jamuns made with milk powder, soaked in saffron-scented sugar syrup. A melt-in-mouth Indian dessert for every celebration.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk powder

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 2 tbsp ghee

  • Milk (as needed for dough)

  • Oil/ghee for deep frying

  • For Sugar Syrup:
  • 1.5 cups sugar

  • 1.5 cups water

  • 4 cardamom pods

  • Few saffron strands

  • 1 tsp rose water (optional)

Directions

  • Mix milk powder, flour, soda, and ghee. Add milk to make soft dough.
  • Roll into smooth balls.
  • Heat the oil on low. Fry until golden brown.
  • Boil syrup ingredients for 10 mins.
  • Soak fried balls in warm syrup for 2+ hours.
