kcalA tangy and spicy South Indian-style fish curry simmered in tamarind and aromatic spices — perfect with steamed rice.
Ingredients
500g firm fish (cut into medium pieces)
2 onions (finely chopped)
2 tomatoes (pureed)
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
2 tbsp tamarind pulp
4 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Directions
- Marinate fish with turmeric, salt, and chilli powder. Keep aside.
- Heat oil, sauté onions until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 min.
- Stir in tomato puree, coriander powder, and chilli powder. Cook until oil separates.
- Add tamarind pulp and 1 cup water; bring to a boil.
- Gently add fish pieces, simmer for 10–12 min.
- Sprinkle garam masala, garnish with coriander leaves, and serve hot with steamed rice.
